PET

Polyethylene terephthalate

Clear, strong and light. The standard for water, soft drinks, juices, edible oil and food jars, and widely recycled.

HDPE / LDPE

Polyethylene

HDPE for stiff bottles such as milk, detergent and chemical containers; LDPE for soft squeeze bottles.

PP

Polypropylene

Tough and heat-resistant, used for caps, pill bottles and containers that need extra strength.

How it’s made

From PET resin to finished bottle

  1. Resin drying

    PET granules are dried so moisture doesn’t weaken the plastic.

  2. Injection moulding

    Molten PET is injected into moulds to form preforms with a finished neck and thread.

  3. Quality check

    Preforms are checked for weight, dimensions, clarity and neck finish.

  4. Stretch blow moulding

    Preforms are reheated, stretched and blown with air into the bottle or jar shape.

  5. Filling & capping

    Bottles are filled and sealed with PCO, ROPP or jar caps.

What is a PET preform?

A preform is the test-tube-shaped PET part with a finished neck and thread. It is heated and stretch-blow-moulded into the final bottle or jar shape, usually by the bottler.

What is the difference between PCO 1810 and ROPP necks?

PCO 1810 is a common 28mm plastic-cap neck used for water, soft drinks and juices. ROPP (roll-on pilfer-proof) necks take aluminium caps that are rolled on, giving a tamper-evident seal often used for liquor, pharma and edible oil.

How do I choose the right preform weight?

Gram weight sets the wall thickness of the finished bottle. Lighter preforms suit still water and small volumes; heavier preforms suit larger bottles, carbonated drinks, hot fill or products that need extra strength. Share your bottle volume and product and we’ll suggest a weight.
